Mark Yammine Photography

Logo and Identity Design
2019

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Mark Yammine is a Vancouver creative that uses photography as a medium to do sophisticated, local storytelling. Focusing on editorial portraiture and the hospitality industry, Mark Yammine Photography has enlisted a bevy of notable clients, such as Bao Bei, Ask for Luigi, Kissa Tanto, and Di Beppe. As a growing company, Mark wished to develop a brand identity that reflected the rich, minimal, and classic style of his work.

GOAL

Through client ideation sessions, mood boarding, and market research, we came to a clear idea of what the brand should look like before any initial sketches were created. The scope of the project consisted of developing a simple colour palette, a logo, an associated wordmark, and a business card. Through the production of these pieces of marketing material, Mark Yammine Photography wished to create a brand identity that was modern, yet timeless. Deliverables were to include a monogram of his initials with a colour palette of blue and gold, evocative of Santa Teresa 1796 Rum.

PROCESS

Freelance design projects with other creatives are some of the most fulfilling for me as I get the opportunity to work alongside them to collaborate in a more intimate way, drawing from each of our artistic experiences. These instances become a meeting of the minds as we both hold a strong, comprehensive idea of project direction and often allow you to dig into specific details. Mark Yammine Photography was a great example of this process. His ideas were acute and he knew the story he wanted to convey through his brand identity, allowing me to focus less on research and more on graphic design. The final deliverables I produced consisted of a colour palette, monogram, logo, and business card.
